Kwame Adinkrah pays humble tribute to Otumfuo after Asantehemaa’s passing

Seasoned broadcaster and respected media personality, Kwame Adinkrah, today joined mourners at the Manhyia Palace to console the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

Though widely regarded as one of the most prominent voices in Ghanaian broadcasting, Kwame Adinkrah arrived quietly, dressed in solemn funeral wear, and walked with the same reverence he has shown each time duty has called him to serve the Golden Stool. For years, he has been entrusted with the microphone at the Palace’s most significant occasions, lending his voice and presence as Master of Ceremonies to events steeped in tradition and history.

On this day, however, his role was different. With bended knees in respect, he offered gentle words of comfort to the King:

“Your Majesty, the loss of our Queen Mother is a pain we all share. She was a fountain of wisdom and a mother to every son and daughter of Asanteman. Her legacy will continue to guide us.”

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, revered as the 14th Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom, passed away peacefully on 7 August 2025 at the age of 98. Known for her compassion, philanthropic spirit, and unwavering commitment to the traditions of the Asante people, her death has left a deep void in the heart of the Kingdom.

For Kwame Adinkrah, who has stood at the cultural crossroads of modern media and ancient tradition, the moment was deeply personal. Palace insiders say his long association with the Manhyia Palace and his understanding of its customs have earned him a unique place of trust within the royal court, yet his words and demeanour on this occasion were marked by humility rather than ceremony.

As the Asante Kingdom prepares for the one-week observance on 21 August 2025, tributes like Kwame Adinkrah’s has highlighted the enduring bonds between the Palace and those who, in their own fields, work to preserve and project the dignity of Asanteman to the world.

The funeral rites are expected to draw chiefs, dignitaries, and citizens from across Ghana and the diaspora, in a display of unity and tradition that will reaffirm the Asante people’s respect for their heritage and their leaders.
